QMF for TSO/CICS compatibility with z/OS

Abstract

I am migrating to a new release of z/OS. I would like to know if QMF for TSO/CICS has any known problems running with the new z/OS release.

Problem 1 description:


Message IEC190I INVALID DCBE: DCBHIARC FLAGS ON BUT NO DCBE PTR can appear for the following commands:
  • EXPORT to a new data set using all dataformats except DATAFORMAT=XML
  • EDIT QUERY
  • EDIT PROC

This message is informational and does not indicate any error. The command will successfully execute.
If running with TSO PROFILE NOWTPMSG, users will not see the informational message.

This problem is fixed in QMF for TSO/CICS V10.1 and V11.1 in APAR PM96778 (UK97640 - V10 and UK97641 - V11).

 

Problem 2 description:


When invoking QMF from an 8-character TSO user ID, users might encounter the following problems:
  • Message DSQ22114 'Your data set name contains invalid characters.' when executing IMPORT from an unqualified data set name.
  • Message DSQ23146 'Your data set name contains invalid characters.' when executing EXPORT to an unqualified data set name.
  • The wrong QMF profile might be chosen when QMF is invoked with DSQSPRID=TSOID.
  • The QMF trace data set DSQDEBUG will truncate the USERID value.

The problem is fixed in QMF for TSO/CICS V11.1, V11.2 and V12.1 via APAR PI99294.
