Source RETAIN tip H174991 Symptom After successfully upgrading to Qlogic BIOS 1.76, the system displays an 00180102 error at POST, similar to the following: "00180102 PCI device resource allocation failure."

Symptom

After successfully upgrading to Qlogic BIOS 1.76, the system displays an 00180102 error at POST, similar to the following:  
"00180102 PCI device resource allocation failure."

The BIOS level affected is:

Adapter BIOS 1.76

Solution

You must disable additional ROM BIOSs that are not needed. For more information, see RETAIN tip H173431 for details on how to disable additional BIOSs.

Workaround

Do not update the adapters to 1.76.

Additional information

Additional functions in the 1.76 BIOS increased its working size. If the adapters cannot allocate enough memory to load their BIOSs, they will cause a PCI resource allocation error.
 
Note: The BIOS must load at first to allow entry into the ALT+Q diagnostic programs.
