APAR Error Description / Circumvention
-----------------------------------------------
The PSF writer for one particular *LAN IPDS printer device
description will periodically go to a LCKW (Lock Wait) status
and then to a MTXW (Mutex Wait) status. Once this has occurred,
attempting to work with that particular writer, or doing a
"WRKWTR WTR(*PRT)", fails with MSGCPF34DC RC3406.
Increasing the DFTWAIT time to 999999 seconds on the interactive
job description made the problem worse instead of better.
CORRECTION FOR APAR SE56668 :
-----------------------------
Program QSPWKSTS (the WRKPRTSTS command) was locking the output
queue and then the writer workspace. QSPWTRM1 (the writer) was
locking the writer workspace first, and then the output queue.
(These are not object locks and do not show up in the DSPJOB
option 12 lock list.) If both programs run at exactly the same
time, a deadlock occurs until the DFTWAIT interval expires for
the WRKPRTSTS job and it fails with CPF34DC or CPF3330.
QSPWKSTS will now unlock the output queue before locking the
writer workspace.
