Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels. This PTF may be a prerequisite
for future PTFs. By applying this PTF you authorize and agree to the

accompanied, or was contained in, the Program for which you are obtaining
the PTF. You are not authorized to install or use the PTF except as part

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

Performing a SAVOBJ of a recently cycled management collection
object to a save file intermittently fails with message MCH5204
F/#LDREQPO T/QSRSVDEQ. In addition, CPF8145 & CPF8198 are
reported to QHST.
CORRECTION FOR APAR SE55960 :
-----------------------------
The damage occurred because of locking issues on internal
components of the *MGTCOL. This has been fixed by first
requesting an exclusive lock on the *MGTCOL object prior to
requesting locks on internal components.
CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE55960 :
--------------------------------
To avoid the locking issue without applying this PTF, users
should obtain an exclusive lock on the *MGTCOL object prior to
saving it.
Activation Instructions
None.
Special Instructions
After applying or removing this PTF the Collection Services collector
job (QYPSPFRCOL) must be ended and restarted for the change to take
effect.
1. To end Collection Services enter the following on the command line:
ENDPFRCOL FRCCOLEND(*YES)
2. To start Collection Services enter the following on the command
line:
STRPFRCOL
Before restarting Collection Services, you should consider other
functions that may be using data provided by Collection Services. Such
functions may be impacted when Collection Services is ended. Error
messages may be produced and the affected functions may need to be
restarted.
Examples of functions that are dependent on Collection Services include
Management Central monitors and applications that use the performance
collector APIs QPMWKCOL and QPMLPFRD. If applications are using the
performance collector APIs, you will find server jobs QPMASERV and
QPMACLCT active on your system.

Management Central Server (QYPSJSVR Job) and Collection Services
(QYPSPFRCOL Job) must be restarted in order for this PTF to be
activated.
Run the following commands to restart Management Central Server and
Collection Services:
ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*MGTC)
ENDPFRCOL FRCCOLEND(*YES)
STRTCPSVR SERVER(*MGTC)
STRPFRCOL
