use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels.  This PTF may be a prerequisite

form and/or may be viewed using the Work with Software Agreements (WRKSFWAGR)

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-------------------------------------------------
1. In V6R1 and above, message replacement data for MSGBRM1472
doesn't show correct values.
2. In V5R4 and above, BRMS Tape library resource status tool.
The fixes include the following:
A)  If you run the tool multiple times within the same job
stream, a MSGCPF325E and MSGCPF6708 may appear.
B)  When running the command multiple times results in
many of the same records in output file
C)  When *NETGRP parameter is selected, the local system's
device status is not included
D)  When more than one drive is locked, only one message
is displayed
E)  If too many drive resources are in an allocated
status, not all the drives status is displayed.
3. In V6R1 and above, STRRCYBRM with ACTION(*REPORT)  and
OPTION(*ALLUSR)  does not work for recovery order list
(RCYORDLST).
4. In V6R1 and above, if running TYPE(*CTLGRPSTAT) CTLGRP(*NONE)
a MSGSQL0802 may occur.
5. In V5R4 and above, when a BRMS PTF is being installed, escape
message MSGCPF2105 or MSGCPF2208 may be posted in the joblog.
6. In V5R4 and above, when a control group is being changed,
other jobs that access control groups may fail with escape
message MSGRNQ1218.
7.  In V5R4 and above, BRMS GUI may not display all available
devices that match the requested media pool.
8. In V5R4 and above, support has been added to WRKSPLFBRM to
display duplicated spooled files.
To enable the support for the current job, run the following
command:
QSYS/CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QTEMP/Q1ASPLFDUP) TYPE(*CHAR)
To enable the support for all jobs on the system, run the
following command:
QSYS/CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRBRM/Q1ASPLFDUP) TYPE(*CHAR)
To disable the support for the current job, run the following
command:
QSYS/DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QTEMP/Q1ASPLFDUP)
To disable the support for all jobs on the system, run the
following command:
QSYS/DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRBRM/Q1ASPLFDUP)
9.  In V6R1 and above, BRMS incorrectly processes *MEDCLS when
specified in 'FromDev' and 'ToDev' of the media policy and that
media policy is used for auto-duplication.
10. In V7R1 and above, when prompting on an IFS restore and
changing the file being restored, a MSGCPF5401 may occur.
11. In V5R4 and above, when an expired volume is deleted on a
system that owns it, it may not be deleted on other systems in
the BRMS network
12.   In V6R1 and above, IFS link list entries in control groups
with ASP Device "*" are displayed as [Empty] in BRMS GUI.
13. In V6R1 and above, adding a library with special characters
to a control group entry may post a  MSGBRM1357.
14. In V6R1 and above, when using WRKCTLGBRM and there are omits
for *ALLDTCRCV or *ALLCHGRCV  in the BRMS GUI client, the
display omit status is '*NO'.
15. In V5R4 and above, when using *MEDCLS for a device,  BRMS
will now check the number of available resources in the tape
media libraries when selecting a tape media library.
16. In V5R4 and above, when using the BRMS client reclaim
wizard, BRMS incorrectly mixes date with version retention.
17. In V6R1 and above, the output report from PRTRPTBRM
*CTLGRPSTAT may show *ERROR status for a control group that ran
successfully.
18. In V5R4 and above, when saving one library from an IASP,
MSGCPF3701 is incorrectly sent as a diagnostic message.
19. In V5R4 and above, when maintenance is run, MSGCPF9803 may
be posted in the QBRMNET joblog.
20. In V5R4 and above, when running a Backup Analysis , BRMS
shows the incorrect information for incremental saves
Note:  When doing incremental saves via SAVLIBBRM or STRBKUBRM
for a list of libraries,  if  no objects are saved for the
current library, it will use 'Size' and  'Save minutes' of the
previous save of the library to update incremental information
for current library.
21. In V5R4 and above, MSGTCP1A2B or MSGTCP1A19 may be posted
when running a backup that does not restart subsystems.
22. In V7R1 and above, BRMS maintenance is not automatically
re-freeing unchanged retrieved objects.
23. In V5R4 and above, when running BRMS activities, there may
be many MSGCPCA087 and MSGCPC221B in the joblog.
24. In V5R4 and above, MSGRNX1217 may be posted in the QBRMSYNC
job.
25. In V6R1 and above, the IBM i OS restricts access to
libraries QPTFOBJ1 and QPTFOBJ2 during saves, BRMS has been
enhanced to handle this restriction.
26. In V6R1 and above, MSGCPF2209 may be posted when using a
media policy that saves to save files on I-ASPs.
27. In V5R4 and above, when the IASP is varied off, DSPASPBRM
show the used: 100%, while WRKASPBRM show the used: 0.
28. In V6R1 and above, network performance issues may occur
after removing a device from the network.
29. In V5R4 and above, WRKCTLGBRM option 8, when 'Missed object
policy' is *BKUPCY, 'Clear object policy' may be incorrect.
30. In V7R1 and above, the backup status table displayed in BRMS
Enterprise shows the date and time fields in month, day, year
format, while it should display in the user's locale format.
Also sorting is not working correctly.
31. In V5R4 and above, MSGCPD37A7 may be incorrectly posted in
the joblog during restores if the RSTASPDEV parameter for native
OS restore commands has been changed.
32. In V5R4 and above, in an incremental save of libraries, a
MSGMCH0603 may occur.
33. In V6R1 and above, the output from PRTRPTBRM
TYPE(*CTLGRPSTAT) will now include states of  *ERROR, *NOERR,
*QUAL, *ACT or *CANCL.  The output from PRTRPTBRM TYPE(*BKUSTAT)
will include states of *ERROR and *NOERR.
State descriptions:
*ERROR - The backup failed.
*NOERR - The backup completed with no errors.
*QUAL  - The backup completed but not all objects were saved.
*ACT   - The backup is currently running and has not completed.
*CANCL - The backup was cancelled.
34. In V6R1 and above, the value for a save file ASP may be
incorrect for WRKPCYBRM TYPE(*MED) option 2 or option 5.
35. In V5R4 only, mounted virtual volumes will not be selected
during saves and may fail with MSGBRM148A.
36. In V6R1 and above, support has been added to STRBKUBRM to
override the Auto Duplication fields from the control groups 'To
media policy' with parameters specified on the STRBKUBM command.

To enable the auto duplication overrides, run the following
commands:
QSYS/CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRBRM/Q1APYOVRDP) TYPE(*CHAR)
QSYS/CHGOBJOWN OBJ(QUSRBRM/Q1APYOVRDP) OBJTYPE(*DTAARA)
NEWOWN(QBRMS)

37. In V6R1 and above, BRMS has been enhanced to support
spanning  from one optical media to another while saving or
restoring or duplicating media. MSGOPT1555 may be posted.
38.  In V5R4 and above, job QBRMSYNC in the BRMS network
subsystem (Q1ABRMNET) could go into a read loop that will cause
the job log to wrap continuously with MSGCPF5032.
39. In V5R4 and above, when saving IFS objects or runnning
maintenance, MSGCPFA09C or MSGBRM2330  may be posted in the
joblog.
40. In V5R4 and above, when doing a restricted state backup, the
backup may fail with a MSGCPF414B.

Enterprise specific fixes for V7R1:
1. MSGCPF228A is sent when selecting Enterprise Services
function.
2. In the Enterprise Services Hub Center tab, the column for
BRMS PTF always shows *NONE when the BRMS Status is Connected.
3. Using the node action BRMS Log on the Enterprise Hub Center
panel may not show the expected log entries.
4. The BRMS GUI client does not show detailed messages to
identify which licensed programs are required to enable
generating PDFs for the View Report action on Enterprise panels
5. Setting up an Enterprise node to use a 'Secured connection'
may fail with a MSGCPF9190 reason code 2 - 'Password not valid'
even though the password that was entered is valid.
6. Enterprise fields showing the Report Definition counts for
individual nodes may be incorrect.
7. When using the BRMS GUI client to connect to a system at a
release prior to V7R1, Enterprise is displayed when it should
not be.

CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE54363' :

Load and apply this PTF.
After the BRMS PTF is installed, do the following to enable the


BRMS
plug-in for the IBM Systems Director Navigator for i5/OS (web

brower)
or System i Navigator windows client.

Enable the BRMS plug-in for the IBM Systems Director Navigator

for i5/OS.
==== V6R1 and newer only:
Note:  ending the http admin servers may affect other non-BRMS

users.
From System i:
1. Enter the command to end the http admin servers:
endtcpsvr server(*http) httpsvr(*admin)
2. Wait for the http admin server jobs to end or terminate
them.
Use command:  wrkactjob sbs(qhttpsvr)
3. Restart the http admin servers:
strtcpsvr server(*http) httpsvr(*admin)

Enable the BRMS plug-in for System i Navigator Windows/OS
client.
==== Pre-V6R1:
1) Close the System i Navigator application.
2) On the client/PC, uninstall the BRMS plug-in using the
Client

Access Express "Selective Setup" utility:  from the
Windows
"Start", select
"Programs->IBM iSeries Access for Windows->Selective
Setup".

Follow the instructions on the dialogs to uninstall the
BRMS

plug-in.  Notes:
a) On the second dialog, select the radio button "Ignore.
I'm
only going to UN-install components".
b) On the next screen, "Component Selection", open the
System i Navigator folder; a list of all installed
System i Navigator components and plug-ins is displayed.

c) Deselect the BRMS plug-in to uninstall it (if you do
not
see the BRMS plug-in, it was not properly installed);
reboot the PC if requested.
3) Start System i Navigator.
4) Use the System i Navigator "Install Options->Install
Plug-in"
action. This action is available from the main iSeries
Navigator "File" menu and the "My Connections" folder
context/pop-up menu.  When prompted for the iSeries system

to install from, select the iSeries that has the new BRMS

PTF installed.

=== V6R1 and newer:
1) Close the System i Navigator application.
2) Open a Windows Command Prompt screen.
3) Enter the following command:
cwbinplg /REMOVE=IBM.BRMSPlugin
4) On the client/PC, start the iSeries Navigator.
5) Use the System i Navigator "Install Options->Install
Plug-in"
action. This action is available from the main System i
Navigator "File" menu and the "My Connections" folder
context/pop-up menu.  When prompted for the iSeries system

to install from, select the iSeries that has the new BRMS

PTF installed.
