APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
A system partition has an L2TP terminator connection profile
configured to allow other partitions to make outgoing calls
using a modem. Other partitions are configured to connect
through the partition with the modem, using an L2TP remote dial
connection profile. The partitions with the L2TP remote dial
connection profiles are able to make one successful connection
through the partition with the modem, but subsequent connection
attempts fail. When the problem occurs there are MCH3601 and
CPF9999 error messages in the QTPPPCTL job log on the partition
with the L2TP terminator connection profile.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE51945 :
-----------------------------
When the L2TP terminator connection profile made the first
connection it indicated that it was using the configured PPP
line to established the dialup connection. When the dialup
connection ended, the L2TP terminator profile did not indicate
that it was no longer using the PPP line. This caused subsequent
connection attempts that used the same PPP line to fail. This
fix corrects the problem and allows the L2TP remote dial
connections to complete successfully.

Special Instructions


To activate this fix:

1) End all Point-to-Point connection profiles using the ENDTCPPTP(*ALL)
command.

2) End the QTPPPCTL job using the ENDJOB *IMMED command.

The QTPPPCTL job will automatically restart when a Point-to-Point
connection profile is started.

1) Use the WRKTCPPTP command and option 10 to end any active
Point-to-Point connection profiles.
2) End the QTPPPCTL job using the ENDJOB *CNTRLD command.
