APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
While attempting to recover from unusual Fibre Channel target
device behavior, the client Virtual Fibre Channel adapter may
trap on an unexpected state which causes an exception. This
exception causes an adapter wait which results in loss of
contact to all devices attached through the adapter. The wait
condition may be resolved automatically by a self-initiated IOP
reset after a 30 minute delay, or may last indefinitely if the
exception processing causes I/O to be required to one of the
adapter devices. The indefinite hang condition requires a
partition restart to recover.

CORRECTION FOR APAR MA41828 :
-----------------------------
Licensed Internal Code will be changed to tolerate the
unexpected state to avoid causing an exception. Upon detection,
the adapter will immediately initiate an IOP reset on itself to
recover from the abnormal state. The adapter will log a 6B258100
entry in the Product Activity Log with reference code 90000051
in word 14 to identify the cause of the IOP reset.
