Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels. This PTF may be a prerequisite
for future PTFs. By applying this PTF you authorize and agree to the
foregoing.
This PTF is subject to the terms of the 'IBM License Agreement for Machine
Code', the terms of which were provided in a printed document that was
delivered with the machine.

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

An attempt to use a varied on IBM i virtual tape device from DST
may result in a long wait.
CORRECTION FOR APAR 'MA39047' :
-------------------------------
After this fix is applied it will still be necessary to vary off
an IBM i virtual tape device before it can be used by DST. If
an attempt is made to use a varied on virtual tape device from
DST, and Enter is pressed on the "Device Already in Use" panel,
the allocation of the device to the service tool will still
fail, but the long wait condition should not occur.
CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR 'MA39047' :
----------------------------------
Vary off the IBM i virtual tape device before attempting to use
it from DST.
