Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels.  This PTF may be a prerequisite
for future PTFs.  By applying this PTF you authorize and agree to the
foregoing.

This PTF is subject to the terms of the 'IBM License Agreement for Machine

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
Adding the low-level media headers to an outgoing packet
sometimes allocates a separate buffer for those headers even
when the existing packet buffer could be used. With some
adapters, this may force an additional copy of the packet to
occur before the packet can be sent.

CORRECTION FOR APAR MA39570 :
-----------------------------
When possible, the existing buffer will now be used to eliminate
the additional copy of the packet.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR MA39570 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR MA39411 :
-----------------------------------------------
Running NETSTAT and taking option three caused the session to
hang. Temporary storage also filled up until the system took a
MSD and IPLed. The IPL clears temporary storage.

CORRECTION FOR APAR MA39411 :
-----------------------------
A TCP/IP packet was being sent but an invalid MTU size was set
for the next hop route. This invalid MTU size caused a loop as
the packet was fragmented using an impossible size.

This fix adds a check for the invalid MTU size. If found, a LIC
LOG (VL07000071) will be created containing additional debug
information and the MTU size will be reset to a valid value so
that the packet can be sent without causing the errors.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR MA39411 :
--------------------------------
None.
