PRT Record Requirements
Proprietary format files must be terminated with a PRT record that meets the following layout requirements:

| None | Record Code | 01-03 | 03 | PRT identifies the PRT Interchange Trailer Record. Required. |
| PRT-01 | Number of Records | 04-12 | 09 | Number of records in the interchange excluding the PRH/PRT or XPH/XPT records. Optional. |
| PRT-02 | Interchange Control Number | 13-21 | 09 | Unique interchange identifier assigned by the sender. Required. Note: This number must match the number in the PRH-08 Interchange Control Number field. |
| PRT-03 | Filler | 22-79 | 58 | Any characters such as blanks. Optional. |
| PRT-04 | Variable Record Separator Character | 80 | 01 | The record terminator character marking the end of the variable-length record. Required if the PRH-11 field is V. Optional if the PRH-11 field is F. Note: This value must match the value in the PRH-14 Variable Record Separator Character field. |
