Provider was not specified error when upgrading with IBM Datacap

Troubleshooting


Problem

When upgrading a Datacap 8.0.1 application conversion to 9.0, the upgrade fails. The appwiz_convert.log shows: ************ DStudio Application Wizard Convert 8.0.1 to 9.0 Logs ******************** 10/15/2015 12:53:33 PM Converting application : APT 10/15/2015 12:53:33 PM Could not connect to source admin database :An OLE DB Provider was not specified in the ConnectionString. An example would be, 'Provider=SQLOLEDB;'.

Symptom

Another form of the error in the appwiz_convert.log is:
2/17/2016 3:36:44 PM Converting application : APT
2/17/2016 3:36:45 PM Could not connect to source admin database :Could not open connection 'Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=' :No error message available, result code: DB_SEC_E_AUTH_FAILED(0x80040E4D).
