ProtecTIER VTL will not start. - Internal Error

Troubleshooting


Problem

When Restarting ProecTIER software VTL errors with internal error - source_dir/cmnt/cm_proxy/cluster_manager.cc line 820

Symptom

The vtf_internal.log will have the following footprint.

Cause

The RPC protocol needs to be able to find localhost on 127.0.0.1 . The AC_RPC_UNKNOWNHOST is the key section of this failure.

Diagnosing The Problem

Check that the /etc/hosts file has not been changed recently

Resolving The Problem

Check and correct the /etc/hosts file so that it has the line :
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

The Entire /etc/hosts file may look like this :
