IBM Support

Progress indicator for silent install

Question & Answer

Question

How can you see the progress of a silent installation through IBM Installation Manager?

Answer

You can add one of the following options to the silent-install.ini file before the line with -vmargs.

  • -showProgress
  • -showVerboseProgress

The first option just displays a progress bar to the console, and the second just displays task and sub-task text.

The -showVerboseProgress option overrules the other if you specify both options.

The Installation Manager opens the following message:

You need to reboot the machine to complete the install

You see this message when the installation requires a reboot and the response file says to reboot later.

You see the following message, only if you specify -showVerboseProgress in the command line:

Rebooting the machine to complete the install
