"The product does not exist in this location or the version information could not be determined" when trying to patch Controller application server

Troubleshooting


Problem

Customer is trying to patch Controller from one version (for example Controller 10.1.1 RTM) to a later version (for example 10.1.1 FP2) by applying a patch (for example "up_cntrl_win32_10.1.6302.53_ml.tar.gz"). During the installation procedure, an error appears.

Error
The product does not exist in this location or the version information could not be determined.
Select 'OK' to enter a different path.
Select 'Cancel' to terminate.
