Producing a Job Log for Interactive Users

Troubleshooting

Problem

The user profile has a Job Description that has the message logging parameter set to (4 00 *SECLVL) to capture a job log; however, no job log is produced when the user signs off.

Resolving The Problem

The user profile has a Job Description that has the message logging parameter set to (4 00 *SECLVL) to capture a job log; however, no job log is produced when the user signs off.

For interactive user jobs, the command SIGNOFF makes the final determination if a job log is produced. Type the command SIGNOFF and press the F4 function key to prompt. You will see a parameter called 'Job log' that defaults to *NOLIST; thus, no job log is produced. If you want all users to produce a job log when signing off, change the command defaults for SIGNOFF. On the operating system command line, type the following:

CHGCMDDFT CMD(SIGNOFF) NEWDFT('LOG(*LIST)')

Press the Enter key.
