Question & Answer
Question
How do I change the text that appears in the tooltip when I hover over a button on the Toolbar?
Answer
To change the text used in a tooltip for a button on the Toolbar use Application Designer.
Open the application in Application Designer. On the Select Action menu pick Add/Modify Signature Options. Not all of the Options are for Toolbar buttons. One way to find the Option you are looking for is to use the current tooltip text for a Filter.
If the text is "Discard changes and refresh" you could put this in the Description filter field:
%discard%
Once you have the correct row, open up the row so that you can see all the fields. The Description field is the one that has the tooltip text so changing the Description changes the tooltip text. Click OK on the Add/Modify Signature Options dialog. Then click Save for the Application and you are done. Log out and log back in again to Maximo to see your change.
For example, to change the Toolbar button that looks like this in the Scheduler:

so that the tooltip text says "Refresh All" instead of "Discard changes and refresh" follow these steps:
1. Open Scheduler in Application Designer
2. On the Select Action menu pick Add/Modify Signature Options.
3. Filter in the Description field for "%discard%"
4. Open the row for Option REFRESHALL. It will look like this:

5. Change the Description to "Refresh All"
6. Click OK
7. Save.
8. Logout of Maximo
When you log back in and go to Scheduler you will now see the new tooltip text:
