Problems arising during the GUI installation on Windows 8

Troubleshooting


Problem

1. The 'Current settings' dialog box is missing in the final summary panel while installing RTCL through GUI install 2. GUI installation of DSDRIVER product fails with a message 'Major error' 3. Error messsage popup related to "conhost.exe" occurs during Silent Upgrade.

Symptom

1. Initiate DB2® Version 10.1 Fix Pack 1 or Fix Pack 2 RTCL installation. Select 'Typical/Custom' option and proceed to the end of the installation panels. In the final summary panel, the 'Current settings' dialog box is blank and does not display the summary details.

2. Initiate DB2 Version 10.1 Fix Pack 1 or Fix Pack 2 DSDRIVER installation. Navigate through the panels and press 'Finish' on the final panel. The installation fails with an error message that says 'A major error occurred while installing IBM Data Server Driver Package on this computer. The installation can not continue. The install log is located in <log path> '

3. Install DB2 Version 9.7 ESE/AESE/EXPC or DB2 Version 9.5 ESE using Silent install through modified sample response file or GUI generated response file . Upgrade the DB2 software to DB2 Version 10.1 Fix Pack 1 or Fix Pack 2 using modified sample response file or GUI generated response file. The following error panel is seen during installation.
