Problems Accessing SVC Console (GUI) Pages using Internet Explorer 7

Troubleshooting


Problem

System Storage Productivity Center (SSPC) V1.2 and V1.3 machines are pre-configured with HTTP 1.1 support disabled in Internet Explorer 7. Using the SVC Console (GUI) with this browser configuration may result in pages not loading correctly or blank screens when attempting to perform cluster management tasks.

Resolving The Problem


There are two solutions to this problem:

Option 1 - Manually re-enable HTTP 1.1 support

1. Within Internet Explorer:

  • Select Tools > Internet Options
  • Click on the Advanced tab
  • Within the Settings section, scroll down to "HTTP 1.1 settings", and select the following two items:
    • Use HTTP 1.1
    • Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections
  • Click on the Apply button
2. Close all open browser windows and then restart Internet Explorer



Option 2 - Reset browser settings

This solution is recommended for users who have recently installed SSPC or Internet Explorer 7 and have no specific browser configuration settings they wish to preserve.

1. Within Internet Explorer:

  • Select Tools > Internet Options
  • Click on the Advanced tab
  • Click on the Reset... button
  • Click on the Reset button to confirm
  • Click Close

2. Close all open browser windows and then restart Internet Explorer
