Problem building Rose RealTime tutorials with Microsoft Visual C++

Troubleshooting

Problem

This technote describes how to resolve build problems with IBM® Rational Rose® RealTime tutorials when building with Microsoft® Visual C++ 6.0 and Visual Studio .NET

Cause

The Rose RealTime tutorials are not updated to locate Microsoft Visual C++ installation information from registry.

Resolving The Problem

Rose RealTime use a make driven build process. Make sure that the path to nmake is included in Windows PATH environment variable.

Next thing to configure is the Component in the Rose RealTime tutorial.

  1. Double click on the component to open up the Component Specification dialog.

  2. Change to the 'C++ Compilation' tab.

  3. In the field 'CompilationMakeCommand' enter:

    rtperl -S rtsetup.pl $defaultMakeCommand

  4. Press OK to close the window.

  5. Build the component.

If you are using Microsoft Visual C++ .Net 2003, review technote 1152938 for more details.
