Troubleshooting
Problem
When running a Cognos report against a Microsoft SSAS cube with multiple hierarchies via Dynamic Query Mode (DQM), you may notice that the performance is very slow. When all of the hierarchies are in their own dimension, the performance is much better.
Symptom
By default, if there is a slicer on a member from a dimension which has multiple hierarchies, DQM will generate MDX so that Microsoft's Autoexists feature will not affect the result. This behaviour can lead to slow queries.
