PK54886; 6.1: 503/504 errors while using custom HTTP servers to route traffic

PK54886 resolves the following problem:

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
Customer created two custom HTTP servers using the IBM® WebSphere® Extended Deployment Middleware Agent Functionality. One node using an WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.1 install and one node using just the middleware agent install. Then start up both Java™ Virtual Machines and they are marked as started. Then shut down the WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.1 node with the custom HTTP server down and 504/500 errors occur.

USERS AFFECTED:
All users of WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.1 running middleware agents and who have applied On Demand Configuration fix PK52782 or later.

After applying PK52782 to middleware agent installations, middleware agents will throw exceptions such as:

RECOMMENDATION:
None

A mismatch in API levels is created by applying PK52782 to the middleware agent. The result is method not found exceptions.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
The underlying methods which are required by PK52782 are not present in the middleware agent environment. A fix will be created which will provide the expected APIs for middleware agents. This fix will also be included in WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.1.0.1.
