Why am I prompted to log in to access the ping page?
Cause
The Ping page which was publicly available is now protected starting in version 2.0.3 fix pack 7 and accessible by administrators only.
Answer
The new protected ping page (ping.jsp) can only be accessed by administrators. The new ping page is loaded in the context of the administration desktop so the administrators will be prompted to log in to the administration desktop before they can access the ping page.
The old ping page (/Ping) will redirect to the new ping page if you are not currently logged in as an administrator. The old ping page is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
