To perform a sequential tender follow these steps. Thisprocess assumes the Tender Response Time is set to 90 minutes.

1. Create a shipment that consists of at least one order.
2. Select the shipment and click Carrier Selection onthe Shipments tab. The Carrier Selection pageopens.
3. Sterling TMS displaysthe carriers that are eligible to take the shipment based on thecriteria you defined in the Route Guide rule. For example the carriersmight be sorted by rate. The carrier with the lowest rate is listedfirst and the carrier with the highest rate is listed last.
4. Select as many carriers as you want from the list. Youdo not have to tender to all the carriers that are listed. Howeveryou cannot change the order of the carriers you select.
5. When you click Tender SterlingTMS offers the shipment to the first carrier you selected.
6. In this example the first carrier has 90 minutes to respond:
   • If the first carrier accepts the shipment the tendering processis complete. The Plan Status for the shipment is set to Covered.
   • If the first carrier declines the shipment Sterling TMS immediatelytenders to the second carrier.
   • If the first carrier does not respond within 90 minutes Sterling TMS sends an expirationnotice to the carrier and tenders to the second carrier.
7. The process continues for each carrier until one of themaccepts the shipment.
8. If the last carrier does not accept the shipment withinthe Tender Response Time Sterling TMS sets the PlanStatus to Unplanned.
