Question & Answer
Question
After upgrading our ZC12 HMC to driver 15, and now running z/OS 2.1, I am attempting to define our new ROCE cards, and cannot use the PCIe function in HCD on the z/OS 2.1 lpar. When I attempt to use function 'F' from the processor list I receive the following: --Functions are not supported by processor MF01 of type 2827-H43.-- When I attempt to use ' 8. Work with PCIe functions . . . . . . . (f)' from the 'Actions on selected processors' pop up in HCD, I receive the following: -- Functions are not supported by processor MF01 of type 2827-H43.-- Did I miss something or is something? PCIe HCD function prereq's: HMC driver 15, z/OS 2.1 (RSU1312) We recently had an MES order for 2 ROCE cards added to our EC12, and I am trying to define them in HCD.
Answer
All it should take to fix the problem is to change the processor definition of the 2827-H43 processor:
- Display the list of processors
- Put 'c' in front of this 2827-H43 processor
- No need to change anything on the first displayed panel "Change Processor Definition" ... so, just press Enter
- Then you will see the panel "Available Support Levels" - that's where it all is hidden!!!
In order to be able to define PCIe functions you should do the following selection
Support Level
XMP, 2827 support
s XMP, 2827 GA2 support
-----------------------
- Then just follow the HCD dialogue ..... and after it you can use 'f' to start working with the PCIe Function List
