You might be wondering why you are getting a login prompt when transitioning from Maximo® (7.6.1.x) to Cognos® 11.0.11.
Cognos can be integrated to Maximo in a couple ways.
1. Maximo Custom Security Provider (MXCSP). The MXCSP provides integration from Maximo to Cognos. The MXCSP allows a transition to Cognos with your Maximo credentials. If you run into problems, check the installation guide for troubleshooting tips.
If you launch Cognos from Maximo, you are authenticated automatically to Maximo.
If you launch Cognos by itself, you WILL be prompted for a userid and password, that matches your Maximo credentials.
2. LDAP
a) You can configure Cognos to use LDAP, just like Maximo. In this case, Maximo does not store the passwords. You need to log in to Cognos whether or not you come from Maximo.
b) Single Sign On (SSO). With SSO enabled, you can go from Maximo to Cognos without logging in.
