Attractively priced, NetBAY42 Enterprise Rack (ER) Cabinets help you manage and control xSeries and Netfinity servers throughout your enterprise. Features include:

New NetBAY42 Enterprise Rack (ER) Cabinet and NetBAY42 Enterprise Expansion Rack (EX) Cabinet provide a comprehensive selection of rugged, attractively-priced, rack solutions tailored for "deep" servers and high-density installations. Offerings include:

NetBAY42 ER
Cabinet conforms to the industry-standard, EIA-310-D and provides 42 U(3) of rack space with depth capacity to support "deep" servers up to 28-inches. Features include:

• Perforated front door -- Improves air flow for a fan-free environment
• Wide doors -- Open for easy access

NetBAY Enterprise Rack Perforated Door Kit
This kit enables current owners of Netfinity Enterprise Racks and Enterprise Expansion Rack Cabinets to retrofit the front door with a perforated steel door for improved airflow. This is especially important where high-density xSeries and Netfinity servers are installed.

Description
NetBAY Rack Design Through Experience
NetBAY42 ER and EX products are 19-inch, 42 U rack cabinets designed to contain rack-mountable xSeries and Netfinity servers. They also support rack-mountable data storage devices, tape backup units, and communication devices associated with these servers.

These rack cabinets feature perforated-steel, front and rear doors to optimize cooling while maintaining security by lock and key. This is extremely important for applications where high-density appliances, or heat generating multiprocessor servers, are installed. Refer to the Planning Information section for important information about adding appropriate blank filler panels.

Cable management is easier through the design of a cable channel running from top to bottom.

The NetBAY42 ER and EX are new heavy-duty cabinets that share the same look and support many of the same options as the Netfinity Rack and Netfinity Enterprise Rack enclosures. As a result, when deploying both rack types throughout your enterprise, you will find it easier to order, configure, support, and service these units. Shared options include:

These NetBAY42 rack cabinets conform to the EIA standard 310-D for cabinets, racks, panels, and associated equipment. They are 19-inch, type A cabinets with universal hole spacing with 42 U of vertical mounting space. One U equals 1.75 inches (44.45 mm).

The internal dimensions for the NetBAY42 ER and NetBAY42 EX allow support for units up to 28 inches (711 mm) deep, plus cable management space up to nine inches (229 mm).

Limitations
When servicing or sliding devices out of the NetBAY42 ER or EX, the front stabilizer plate must be used in accordance with the instructions included in the installation/safety publications.

Planning Information
Blank Filler Panel Requirements: Blank filler panels, available in the Blank Filler Panel Kit (94G6670), should be used to fill all open spaces in the rack to allow adequate cooling of servers and options.

Additional Cable Orders Required
Cabling requirements are dependent upon the devices installed in the NetBAY42 ER cabinets.

Installation Information
Approximate installation time is 30 minutes.

The basic rack cabinet is preassembled and shipped on a pallet. On its casters the NetBAY42 ER and EX can be rolled through standard doors as low as 2032 mm (80 inches) high. By removing the top section of the cabinet, it can be moved through doorways as small as 1083 mm (71 inches) high. Upgrades to individual servers or equipment can be accomplished without disrupting other systems housed within the same rack cabinet.

A loaded NetBAY42 ER or EX can weigh up to 997 kg (2175 LB) on its casters, but can be relocated within a room or building using specific precautions. These precautions are detailed in the Rack Relocation Guidelines included with the rack enclosure.

Air Flow and Service Space
To obtain proper air flow and allow for servicing of internal devices, the following installation clearances are required:

Power Distribution and Control: The NetBAY42 ER and EX support two power distribution solutions, one for environments requiring 120 V service and the other for environments requiring 240 V service.

Power can be distributed across adjacent rack cabinets in a rack suite; however, the power needs of each specific rack cabinet configuration and your power facility should dictate the selection of these power options. It is a customer's responsibility to provide the appropriate emergency power-off controls at the power source. Equipment with switchable power supplies must be set to the appropriate voltage range. Refer to the NetBAY Rack Configurator, previously mentioned, for more information about power distribution planning.
