The 10/100 EtherLink Server Adapter by 3Com provides optimized device drivers and advanced networking features for use on server products. This adapter delivers a high-performance, full-duplex connection to an Ethernet (10 Mbps) or Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) network from an IBM Netfinity server or other Intel-based system.
Features
- Resilient Server Links (Dissimilar Failover Capability) - Failover capability offers continuous network connectivity for the server. Includes support for two different third-party adapters and LAN on motherboard solutions.
- Self-Healing Drivers - Continuous monitoring of network connection and take recovery action as necessary without rebooting the system.
- Bidirectional Load Balancing - Improves network performance by balancing or distributing network traffic among each of the server adapters aggregated into a group. Provides transmit load balancing for third-party adapters.
- Parallel Tasking II architecture for high throughput and low processor utilization.
- Hardware IP checksum enabled for better performance.
- HotPlug support to minimize maintenance impact by allowing replacement, removal, and addition of NICs to servers without powering off or restarting the server.
- Traffic prioritization/Class of Service (COS) - Uses the IEEE 802.1p standard to prioritize and improve the performance of critical applications.
- Performance Monitoring - Enables comprehensive low-cost network management in switched and high-speed networks using RMON-1/RMON-2 for application response time and system-level monitoring.
- Enhanced Remote Wake Up with Keepalive - Enables the remote turning on of PCs to allow lower-cost after-hours updates and inventories and prevents sleeping PCs from becoming inaccessible to remote management applications.
- ACPI Compliance - Reduces power consumption and enables Remote Wake Up through the PCI Bus.
- Desktop Management Interface (DMI) - Lets you use network management software to remotely gain PC resource and inventory information without costly desktop visits.
- Integrated Managed PC Boot Agent - Enables pre-OS installations, upgrades and recovery.
- Wired for Management (WfM) Compliance - Supports WfM industry standard for remote management.
- Multiple VLANs - Supports up to 64 VLANs allowing server/client traffic to avoid unnecessary router bottlenecks (using IEEE 802.1Q).

This adapter is compatible with PCI 2.2, DMI 2.0, ACPI, Wired for Management (WfM) 1.1a, 2.0, Microsoft Server Design Guide 2.0 certification (WHQL), RMON, IEEE 802.1 P/Q, IEEE 802.3x, IEEE 802.3 ac, Pre-OS Boot Protocol Support (PXE 2.0, BootP/DHCP, NCP, RPL). This adapter requires drivers at EtherDisk level 5.11 or above.
