QUERY INCLEXL command on the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup/Archive client, shows 'Operating System' excludes. Is it possible to override these excludes and backup these files?
Answer
Excluded operating system files can be included for backup by using a Client Option Set on the Tivoli Storage Manager Server to override the operating system exclusions.
Example of Operating System Excludes:
Excl All C:\WINNT\SCHEDLGU.TXT Operating System
Excl All C:\WINNT\REGISTRATION\*.CLB Operating System
Excl All C:\WINNT\NTFRS\JET\...\* Operating System
For example, to include the "C:\WINNT\REGISTRATION\*.CLB" files the following commands would be used. These commands are run from a Tivoli Storage Manager admin command line.
1. Define cloptset cloptsetname
2. Define clientopt cloptsetname inclexcl "include *:\...\*.clb"
3. Update node <nodename which will use this cloptset> cloptset=cloptsetname
Note: Some of these files may be excluded because they are locked by the operating system and cannot be backed up.
