Question & Answer
Question
You do not use OS Authentication but an Oracle Wallet (the Oracle security connection from Oracle version 10), the difference can be significant since, in OS Authentication, you set ORACLE_SID, and then just run sqlplus / in wallet : you have to include your instance and run sqlplus /@mydev You are using the Oracle Wallet in Oracle 10g because, in Oracle 11g, OS Authentication will be obsolete. However, there is a requirement to secure the username and password for the Oracle connection. The desired approach is to use the "OS Authentication" for the Oracle connection and, therefore, you do not need to provide the username or password for the Oracle connection. The above, referenced in the Connectivity Guide for Oracle, is for the Oracle OCI stage for server jobs only. How can you get the same functionality for parallel jobs?
