Troubleshooting
Problem
When attempting to publish a document to PDF or HTML with the Rendition Engine after configuring the Rendition Engine Connection, you see the job listed "In Error" in the Publishing Queue, and the Oracle error ORA-12505 is logged to the VistaJ.log and application server logs. This problem might occur if you do not use (or misspell) the Oracle database instance name (SID) in the Rendition Engine Connection's "Database Name" field.
Symptom
Any document fails to publish to PDF or HTML with the following error in the VistaJ.log file and application server logs on the Content Engine:
Caused by: oracle.net.ns.NetException: Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
at oracle.net.ns.NSProtocol.connect(NSProtocol.java:386)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.connect(T4CConnection.java:1054)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.logon(T4CConnection.java:308)
...
The VistaJ.log file is located under the application server (For example, using WebSphere: WAS_Install\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\VistaJ.log)
