Question & Answer

Question

Oracle DB start issue: Could not open parameter file '/dboracle/ora11-64/dbs/initvbfin.ora'' OracleCSACommons:: Final Connection String is sqlplus -S /nolog @"/tmp/sid_vbfin3128444687673963342.sql"

Answer

Possiblities:
?Based on the analysis from the logs shared, this an oracle issue (ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters). The possible reasons are

?1. The parameter file does not exist
?2. File exist and does not have enough Permission
?3. The user that DRM is using does not have enough permission to access the file
?4. Any path mentioned inside the pfile which is not existing or not with the right permission

?In the context, to analyze the issue further and even to be ready for the drill we need the following:

?1. Oracle Alert logs of the for further debugging
?2. Confirmation in the form of screen shot of the output of the command that is run directly (outside the DRM).
?3. Are we using Startup RAL? From the Log it is seen that executeSQL RAL to start the DR Database.
?4. Is there a change in the pfile in DR before the drill?

?SOLUTION:
?Copied the initacctdb.ora from Oracle server to DRM Server /tmp location
