Optimize Database (interactive): Controller Client closes before the process completes.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Optimize Database submitted interactively and after a few hours, Controller client is closed and the Optimize Database completion is not recorded on the System Info.

Symptom

  • Controller client is idle for at least the amount of time allocated to your authentication session.  Typically it will be during the Rebuild Indexes portion of the Optimize Database.
  • The IBMid logon screen is displayed on screen when the IBM Controller application server comes back to the Controller client and finds there is no longer an active session.
    • The IBM Controller application server sends a response to the Controller client (for example:  change the Optimize Database status from Rebuild Indexes to Removing Temporary FoxPro Tables)
      • When the user notices this logon screen and provides their IBMid credentials, the session is 'renewed' and the communication between the IBM Controller application server and Controller client is re-open to complete the Optimize Database process.
        • The user must click the OK on the Optimize Completed popup for the 'Database Optimized', in the System Info, to be updated properly.
      • When the user does not notice the logon screen, the Controller client and logon screen will close 15 minutes (approx) after that.
        • The Optimize Database is not complete (not recorded).
