Operation "xdr_vob_oplog_data_t (decode)" failed

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote explains why the error []multitool: Error: Operation "xdr_vob_oplog_data_t (decode)" failed: error detected by ClearCase subsystem.[] can occur during IBM® Rational® ClearCase MultiSite® synchronization.

Symptom

Attempts to export or import a synchronization packet results in one of the following errors:

xdr_ez_string8: out of memory
multitool: Error: Operation "xdr_vob_oplog_data_t (decode)" failed: error detected by ClearCase subsystem.

multitool: Warning: ../job_cntl.cxx:180: operation 'm_replica.get_current_epoch_row'

or


multitool: Error: Operation "xdr_vob_oplog_data_t (decode)" failed:
error detected by ClearCase subsystem.

However, this can be seen on export as well.

This additional information will usually be seen if the error occurs during the import phase:

multitool: Error: Could not get oplog entry with order:2064989 from
replica:src_vob with oplog_id:13989: error detected by ClearCase subsystem.                                                                  
multitool: Error: Could not check oplog entry for divergence: error
detected by ClearCase subsystem.
multitool: Error: Cannot apply sync. packet
/usr/atria/shipping/ms_ship/incoming/sync_src_main_09-Mar-06.14.05.23_28218 to VOB replica /net/host/ccase_data/src.vbs: error
detected by ClearCase subsystem
