Problem
Visual Studio (VS) opens error messages like "cannot open program database file", when trying to open VS .idb files inside an IBM Rational ClearClase local dynamic view.
Symptom
You might may see the following errors, when you try to run a build in a local dynamic view on a Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 or Windows 7 system
Fatal error C 1033: cannot open program database 'Z:\vobtag\directory\debug\some-file.idb'.
Fatal error C 1083: cannot open program database file: 'Z:\vobtag\directory\debug\some-file.idb': No error.
Error PRJ008 : Could not delete file 'Z:\vobtag\directory\debug\some-file.idb'.
Make sure that the file is not open by another process and is not write protected.
rm Z:\vobtag\directory\some-file.idb: Permission denied
The MVFS log shows the following specific message.
mvfs(0): Error: {13 pid/tid 8070/24cc} View op setattr failed for HOSTNAME:D:\viewstore\dev_view.vws - RPC: Unable to send
mvfs(0): Error: {12 pid/tid 8070/24cc} Skipping unrecoverable socket error
