Abstract

IBM i 7.6 now provides an 8-byte return value for heap and static space used in the Open List of Activation APIs.

Some application developers want in-depth information about the memory usage of activation groups in which their programs run.  They use the Open List of Activation APIs, but those APIs have sometimes overflowed the 4-byte return values for space used, so the max 4-byte value of 4,294,967,295 was returned if the actual value exceeded 4 bytes.
With IBM i 7.6, the APIs for Open List of Activation Attributes (QWVOLACT) and Open List of Activation Group Attributes (QWVOLAGP) now allow 8-byte return values for heap and static space used to explicitly return exact larger values.
