Abstract
Storage Virtualize 8.6.0 introduces support for TLS 1.3. Certain older versions of OpenJDK 8 cannot support TLS 1.3 correctly, which may prevent IP quorum apps from connecting.

OpenJDK 8 versions earlier than 8u272 do not correctly support TLS 1.3, due to issue JDK-8245476. This can prevent IP quorum apps from connecting to Storage Virtualize 8.6.0 systems, even if TLS 1.3 is not in use.
This issue was fixed in OpenJDK 8u272 (released October 2020). No other Java Runtime Environments are affected.
Before upgrading to Storage Virtualize 8.6.0, ensure that any IP quorum hosts using OpenJDK 8 are running build 272 or later. The java -version command can be used to check this on the host; for example, this output would indicate OpenJDK 8u222 is in use, and so needs to be upgraded:
# java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_222-ea"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_222-ea-b03)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.222-b03, mixed mode)
Recommended action plan
For each IP quorum host using a version of OpenJDK 8 earlier than build 272:
- Stop any IP quorum apps on this host
- Download and install a newer version of OpenJDK 8 on the host
- Restart the IP quorum app
