"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when importing from staging tables

Troubleshooting

Problem

Customer is trying to import data from staging tables. As part of this, the customer performs the following tasks: 1. Create an import specification ("import spec") 2. Populate the relevant table (xstagefact) with data 3. Run a SQL script (usp_triggerimportbatchjobs) to create the import batch job Afterwards, user opens the batch queue. The batch job has 'Finished with Error'. To diagnose the problem, user opens the SQL table 'xbatchqueue'. There is an error inside the column 'errtext'.

Symptom

Batch queue:

Finished with error

Error recorded inside 'xbatchqueue' table:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.(Error occured within method=DoScheduledImport in the module with progid=FrDImportBT.clsExtImport)
