"NutCracker Service is running" error while installing or upgrading on Vista

Problem

Attempts to install or upgrade IBM Rational Robot on Windows Vista result in error "NutCracker Service is running".

Symptom

When you install or upgrade Rational® Robot on Microsoft® Windows® Vista®, the NutCracker service does not stop automatically. The installation process cannot continue when the NutCracker service is running.

This issue has been identified as a product defect under RATLC01348629.

Resolving The Problem




WORKAROUND


  1. First stop the NutCracker service.

  2. Start the Rational Robot installation procedure.

  3. Re-start the NutCracker service.
