Troubleshooting
Problem
If you have a numeric domain and go to a field to select values based on that domain, the numbers are correctly displayed, with the corresponding description given when the numeric domain list was created, however, if the same numeric domain is associated with a classification, and referenced by a numeric classification attribute, then the description of each number in the numeric domain list is not showing. You will see the DOMAINID info instead for all value lines, when selecting value.
Symptom
Steps to replicate :
1. Log into Maximo as maxadmin
2. Go to Domains app and create a new NUMERIC domain with the following values :
DOMAINID = BOBD1
VALUE = 1
DESCRIPTION = Number one
VALUE = 2
DESCRIPTION = Number two
VALUE = 3
DESCRIPTION = Number three
3. Click OK and save record.
4. Go to Classifications app and create a new classification called BOBCLASS1 , and mark it to be Use With = ASSET
5. Add a new Attribute for this new classification record called AA1, Data Type = NUMERIC and DOMAIN = BOBD1
6. Save record.
7. Go to Assets app and pick any asset that does not have a classification, or insert a new asset record.
8. Go to Specifications tab and from the Classification field, classify this asset, using the BOBCLASS1 classification.
9. You will see the AA1 attribute line, with a value field.
10. Click on the Select Value icon from that Value field and you will see that the value list is displayed like this :
VALUE DOMAIN
-----------------------
1 BOBD1
2 BOBD1
3 BOBD1
This only happens for NUMERIC domains.
