Troubleshooting
Problem
The empty string (or null string) is treated differently than NULL for CHAR and VARCHAR data types.
Symptom
You insert an empty string into a CHAR or VARCHAR column in a certain row. Later you select rows where that column is NULL but that row is not returned.
