The following message is seen in the IBM Flex System FC5022 16 GB SAN Scalable Switch, Option part number 88Y6374, or Flex System FC5022 24-Port 16 GB ESB SAN Scalable Switch, Option part number 90Y9356, command line or Graphical User Interface (GUI): [TS-1001], 46/3, FID 128, WARNING, FC5022, NTP Query failed: 256 Network Time Protocol (NTP) functionality is not affected.

The following message is seen in the IBM Flex System FC5022 16 GB SAN Scalable Switch, Option part number 88Y6374, or Flex System FC5022 24-Port 16 GB ESB SAN Scalable Switch, Option part number 90Y9356, command line or Graphical User Interface (GUI):
[TS-1001], 46/3, FID 128, WARNING, FC5022, NTP Query failed: 256 |
Network Time Protocol (NTP) functionality is not affected.
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 7893, any model, any any model
- Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8721, any model
- Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8724, any model
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- Flex System FC5022 16 GB SAN Scalable Switch, Option part number 88Y6374, any replacement part number (CRU)
- Flex System FC5022 24-port 16 GB ESB SAN Scalable Switch, Option part number 90Y9356, any replacement part number (CRU)
This tip is not software specific.
Solution
This behavior will be corrected in a future release of FC5022 firmware.
The target date for this release is scheduled for fourth quarter 2012.
The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:
Workaround
This message can be safely ignored. NTP functionality is not affected.
Additional information
In the Flex System chassis, NTP is set up on the switches automatically at switch start up.
