Not able to connect to the database server during Initial configuration?

Question & Answer

Question

I have successfully installed IBM InfoSphere Content Collector but why the Initial Configuration fails to connect to Filenet Content Engine SQL Server database? Following error will be seen in the Initial Configuration generated log : SEVERE [104] Database user validation with error: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6 is not supported by this driver. Use the sqljdbc4.jar class library, which provides support for JDBC 4.0. [com.ibm.afu.initialconfig.jobs.CASDatabaseValidationJob run] [Worker-0 1] com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnection.(SQLServerConnection.java:223)

Cause

If you did not perform full install of SQL Server Client on the IBM InfoSphere Content Collector system and you are just using JDBC driver 2.0 (SQLJDBC4.jar) will cause this problem.

Answer

IBM InfoSphere Content Collector requires full install of SQL Server Client to connect to SQL Server database. So,install SQL Server Client to resolve the issue.
