Normalized or standardized residuals and modification indices

Troubleshooting

Problem

Is it possible to display standardized and/or normalized residuals in Amos to direct possible modification to the proposed model?

Resolving The Problem

The normalized residuals are not available in AMOS, but the standardized residuals are available. Open the
View->Analysis Properties menu and click the Output tab. Click the Residual Moments checkbox. The unstandardized and standardized residuals will be printed in the text output. If you also want to display the fitted covariance matrix, then also click the box for "Implied moments", which will give you the covariances predicted by the model. "All implied moments" also gives you the predicted moments for both the latent and observed variables. If you check the box for "Standardized estimates" along with the "Implied" moments choices, then you will also get the fitted (predicted) correlation matrix. Note that you don't have to request "Standardized estimates" to get the standardized residuals, as long as you've checked "Residual moments".
