IBM Support

Non-visible Java tree nodes are not selected

Troubleshooting

Problem

IBM® Rational® Robot does not select nodes in a Java™ tree during playback of a GUI script when the JavaTree MakeSelection or JavaTree ExtendSelect command is used to select the nodes and the nodes are not visible within the application window. Nevertheless, the log has a passing result. For example, an application has 100 nodes in a Java Tree, but can only display 10 nodes in the window pane at a time. To view other nodes, the user must scroll up or down. The user records a GUI script that uses either the JavaTree MakeSelection or JavaTree ExtendSelect command to select the 1st and the 100th nodes in the tree (without scrolling between them). On playback, the application displays nodes 1 through 10 in the window pane, and Robot selects the 1st node but not the 100th node.

Cause

This is a known issue with Robot.

Resolving The Problem

A hot fix is available for this issue. When the hotfix is applied, Robot can select non-visible tree nodes in a Java tree with the JavaTree MakeSelection and JavaTree ExtendSelect commands.
