IBM Support

Storage pool full, objects skipped during expiration.

Troubleshooting

Problem

There are objects being skipped during expiration, causing the storage pool to get full. For example,
ANR0812I Inventory file expiration process 303137
completed: processed 44 nodes, examined 4556 objects,
deleting 0 backup objects, 0 archive objects, 0 DB
backup volumes, and 0 recovery plan files. 0 objects
were retried 0 errors were encountered and 4556 objects
                          were skipped.
(SESSION: 645128, PROCESS: 303137)
For this problem to occur, the following conditions must be true:
1. The problem occurs on the source server of a node replication pair.
2. Dissimilar policy is being used to manage data on the source and target server.
3. Daily admin schedules run Expire Inventory process BEFORE Node Replication processes.
Objects are skipped during expiration because they have not been replicated to the target server. See some restrictions here on using dissimilar policy.

Cause

Files that are eligible for expiration will not expire until they have been replicated to the target server.

Resolving The Problem

Modify daily admin schedules or scripts so that Expiration is run AFTER node replication.
