IBM Support

Increasing available local TCP/IP ports

Troubleshooting

Problem

When you run a performance schedule with IBM® Rational® Performance Tester (RPT), it is possible to exhaust the supply of local TCP/IP ports. These ports are used to create connections to the system under test. Lack of available local ports is typically the cause of "Address already in use" error messages in the test log.

Symptom

The test log contains the following message: "Address already in use."
