Troubleshooting
Problem
An IBM MQ queue manager is experiencing a problem with channels and you need to collect MustGather data to find a solution.
Environment
The instructions apply only to IBM MQ for z/OS. Refer to the IBM MQ Read First page for instructions on other operating systems and to the MQ Channel Troubleshooting guide for self-help on this topic :
Resolving The Problem
Please answer these questions about the problem and then follow the steps below:
- What channel problem did you observe on the system?
- What time did the channel problem start and when did it stop?
- Which queue managers, channels, remote queues and transmission queues are involved?
Step 1: Generate Data
If the channel problem is reproducible or is happening right now, generate data to provide more information about the problem:
- Generate a trace of the queue manager while the channel problem is happening.
- Generate MQ trace simultaneously at the other end of the channel, whether it is a remote queue manager, a native client application, or a JMS or Java client:
- Collect:
Job logs
Dumps generated at point of failure
- On Linux and UNIX systems, save the output from the mqconfig command in addition to collecting the runmqras and other information described at Collecting information for channel problems.
Step 2: Prepare Data to Send
- Update your Support Case or use Email to provide summary information.
Email address : ibm_support@ecurep.ibm.com
The subject line must include the Support Case number.
- Provide the IBM MQ Version. See message CSQY000I for z/OS MQ level and for distributed MQ see here.
- Record the operating system version and maintenance level on both sides of the channel.
- Record the IP addresses and host names of the systems on both sides of the channel.
- If your channel is having difficulty connecting, use your operating system tools to list network connections on both sides immediately before and after the connection attempt:
Displaying network connections on z/OS
TSO NETSTAT CONN
Displaying device links on z/OS
TSO NETSTAT DEVLINK
Displaying local interfaces on z/OS
TSO NETSTAT HOME
Step 3: Send Data to IBM
A good description of the problem and the data is the most important information you can provide to IBM. Please do not send data without providing a description!
Exchanging data with IBM Support
- See Exchanging information with IBM Software Support for FTP and email instructions.
- Go to the IBM My Support site to open or update a case.
Note: Always update your case to indicate that data was sent
- If you need to speak with IBM Software Support, contact your country representative. If you need to speak with IBM Software Support in the US, you can call 1-800-IBM-SERV.
