DB2 Content Manager Version 8.3 resource manager HTTP configuration FAQ

Question & Answer

Question

Can a DB2® Content Manager Version 8.3 resource manager be configured without the HTTP protocol access type?

Cause

If a DB2 Content Manager Version 8.3 resource manager is configured without the HTTP protocol access type, the resource manager will be able to retrieve objects, but it will not be able to import objects. Attempts to import objects into a resource manager configured without the HTTP protocol access type will result in a message similar to “The system could not create a document object.”

Answer

Currently, DB2 Content Manager Version 8.3 resource managers must include the HTTP protocol access type to allow authorized users to import objects. The omission of the HTTP protocol access type prevents the resource manager from importing new objects.

When installing a DB2 Content Manager Version 8.3 resource manager, be sure to configure the HTTP protocol properly.

If you have removed the HTTP protocol from a resource manager’s properties, open the resource
manager’s properties in the DB2 Content Manager system administration client and add the HTTP protocol access type:

1. Log in to the DB2 Content Manager system administration client.
2. Expand icmnlsdb (or your library server database name) by clicking the plus sign (+) next to it.
3. Click Resource Managers.
4. Click the plus sign (+) next to Resource Managers.
5. Right-click rmdb (or your resource manager database name).
6. Select Properties.
7. Click Add.
8. Select http from the drop-down list in the New Access Type window.
9. Type the appropriate port number (the port number must match the port number used in the WebSphere® Application Server resource manager application setup).
10. Type /icmrm/ICMResourceManager for the Access data.
11. Click OK.
12. Close the system administration client.
13. Attempt to import an object by using one of the DB2 Content Manager clients. If you are still unable to import an object, contact IBM Software Support for further assistance.
