Problem
This technote explains why performing IBM® Rational® ClearCase® compare or merge operations may begin failing or report unexpected results after installing the WinMerge application.
Symptom
WinMerge is an Open Source visual text file diffing and merging tool for Win32 platforms.
After installing WinMerge on a ClearCase host, ClearCase merge and compare features fail to work as expected.
Note: Uninstalling WinMerge does not solve the problem.
The symptoms may vary, however, there may be cases where no error message is displayed and nothing happens unexpectedly during the merge or compare.
