Troubleshooting
Problem
Recommended settings and known issues are documented below for Continuous Data Protection for Files and FastBack for Workstations
Resolving The Problem
If a user experiences a browser error: clear the error, then refresh the browser. This will usually resolve any browser error.
The product was designed to be optimally viewed with the following settings:
- 1024 X 768 resolution
- maximize the browser window
- remove extra tool bars from the browser
The Activity Report window must be manually refreshed.
- The Activity Report page does not refresh by itself. In order to see updated information the user must force a refresh by either closing and re-opening the window, or using the browser refresh control.
Internet Explorer-specific issues
Client
- If Internet Explorer fails to bring up the user interface or the user interface seems locked up, check that the address 127.0.0.1 is listed in IE's trusted sites.
Navigation in folder view tree of Restore function is not working with a mouse.
- If you are running Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6.x and find that you cannot navigate the restore folder view tree with your mouse, try installing Microsoft's cumulative security update for Internet Explorer, MS05-038.
- If you are running Internet Explorer version 7 and receive an error message after installation, please check to be sure your Internet Explorer Security Settings are set as in the box below:

Central Administration Console
- When using Internet Explorer 8 or earlier versions, the go to page table dialog on the client portlet does not work properly unless the browser window is maximized.
In Internet Explorer 8, the drop down menu item "Fastback for Workstations Central Administration" text will cover the drop down button if selected. The button will continue to function correctly.
Mozilla Firefox-specific issue
Links from the Backup Reports page do not work in Mozilla Firefox.
- For security reasons, Firefox does not allow web content to link to local files. An error such as
the following will appear in the javascript console:
- Error: Content at url may not load or link to file:///xxxx
web page. If you do not want to use the security check and are willing to risk all the files on
your system that your system can access, then add the following line to the user.js file in your
personal profile directory:
- user_pref("security.checkloaduri", false);
location on your hard drive where Firefox saves all your settings:
- On Windows XP/2000, the path is
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\, where xxxxxxxx is a random
string of 8 characters. Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\[User
Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
%AppData% is a shortened expression for the Application Data path on Windows
2000/XP. To use it, click Start -> Run, type %AppData%, and then press Enter. You
will be directed to the appropriate folder, which is normally C:\Documents and
Settings\<user_name>\Application Data.
